Pyramid Mountain In New Jersey Okay, here are my favorites. These are from the Pyramid Mountain Natural Historic Area.
Pyramid Mountain In New Jersey This area is known for the impressive glacial erratics that dot the landscape especially "Tripod Rock" a rare form of "perched boulder". Most believe it was plucked from a distant ridge and placed there by the wisconsin ice sheet.
Pyramid Mountain In New Jersey It's wieghs in at about 150-200 tons and from the pictures looks like it should just topple over. Also shown are "bear rock" and "eagle rock", two impressive erratics precariously perched on the ground. I placed myself in the picture to give perspective on the size of the massive boulders.

The picture labeled solstice rock1 is two small boulders, if you sit on the small surface boulder in the foreground the sun will set in between these two boulders on the day of the summer solstice. Historians believe these smaller rocks may have been arranged by ancient native americans. A very unuaual area I thought others would enjoy seeing. Enjoy!
